First of all, let's look at the process.

The picture above identify the two different classification of communication in the organization. We have Formal Communication or also known as the Flow of Communication between the organizational structure and we have the Informal Communication or also known as Grapevines.
Remember there is one element in the communication process that we called as NOISE? It is part of the barrier in ensuring a successful communication. Understanding the barriers will help us to find ways on how to overcome it. There are quite a few more barriers when engage in the communication process. You can read about it more here.
Now, let's look at Interpersonal Communication. Easy peasy, we have four categories here: Verbal, Non-Verbal, Written and Technological.
Having said that, students always got mixed up between verbal and non-verbal, written and technological. How many of you here thinks that email is a Written Communication? If you think email is a written communication, you have to do more reading because it falls under Technological Communication. Anything that uses the advancement of technology in order for us to transmit information is consider as Technological Communication.
